The above passage of Scripture reminds us of God's ultimate plan for mankind. There are some interesting facts namely:
- God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. In 2 Peter 1:3-4, the Bible says,
Not only has God blessed us, He has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Him. In other words, it is the level of our knowledge of God that determines our spiritual growth and maturity. That is why we are commanded in 2 Peter 3:18,
"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory, both now and forever. Amen." (MEV)
- God chose us before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before Him in love. The Bible says in Romans 8:29,
If we are to walk in holiness and righteousness, we must look up to Jesus (our perfect Example), Who is the Author and the Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:1-2).
- God chose us to be His sons by adoption through Jesus Christ. What an amazing truth! We who were alienated from God would become reconciled to Him and thereby become His ambassadors. In 2 Corinthians 5:18-20, the Bible says:
"All this is from God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their sins against them, and has entrusted to us the message of reconciliation. So we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us. We implore you in Christ’s stead: Be reconciled to God." (MEV)
We can rest assured that we are
"... a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may declare the goodness of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." (MEV)
Rejoice for you are chosen by the most high God if you have truly repented of your sins and surrendered to Jesus, accepting Him not only as Savior but as LORD. Are you willing to let go and let God? Think about these things and respond positively and enthusiastically to the call of God through Jesus, His Son and our Lord and Savior. God bless you as you answer the call.
